excerpts from classes at the Breema Center

To do Breema, just keep it as simple as you can. That means drop all your self-images. You don’t need to be something particular. You don’t need to be a good practitioner. Just allow this body to manifest, and be grateful that you have this opportunity. If you need to do something, then breathe and know that this body is breathing. Know that this body has weight on the ground, and experience the weight of the body on the ground. When you do this, nothing more, you are closer to what you are in reality. As you continue to practice, slowly this becomes property of your Being.

We go to sleep at night, and through that sleep we refuel our mental, emotional, and physical centers. In the morning when we get up, we have some capital. We have to learn how to use that capital. If we study ourselves, we see that a good portion of our daily capital is used up in tension and inertia. Our energy leaks away into thoughts of past and future, into likes and dislikes. These thoughts and feelings do not contribute to our bank of energy, they only deplete it.
When I bring my mind to be connected with my body, then the energy of the mind unites with the energy of the body. In the union between these two energies, my feelings become available. When these three are together, tension and inertia are minimized, past and future don’t have such a pull on me, and the events of life don’t affect me as strongly.

Your thoughts are always in the past and future. But your mind could become an instrument that has a job to do. You can ask your mind, time after time, to remain with the process of inhalation and exhalation. When it goes off somewhere, bring it back to register inhalation and exhalation. That harmonizes both your body and your mind.
