The principle of No Extra applies to everything. When you have extra in any area, you actually have less. Food is an easy example—if you have extra, your attitude may become careless, and your respect for what you have is lessened. You may consume it unwisely, even harmfully to yourself. You eat extra and your energy decreases. Everything is like that. Extra of anything is harmful, but even “No Extra,” if it becomes a rigid rule, is extra. There is room within it, here and there, for extra. No Extra has to be applied, not by belief, but through seeing, through understanding.
